GiveBack DC 2013. Get Ready

Many of you may remember last year’s CreateathonDC event, hosted by The Web Development Group, and its goal of successfully building a new web presence for three local nonprofits. The inaugural event surpassed our expectations and was a huge success! We had a surplus of applicants for both nonprofits and volunteers. All three sites launched within the 72 hour weekend. Our volunteers were so successful that one of the new sites, DC Diaper Bank’s, was featured on WordPress Showcase.

So what will 2013 bring for the nonprofits here in the DC Metro area?

First, this year’s event will be known as GiveBack DC. Instead of working with three nonprofits we will be working with four and instead of only offering WordPress, we will also offer Drupal. This means the event will be bigger and we will be doing even more good for the community. Each nonprofit will receive not only a new custom designed and developed website but also strategy on how to build a better online presence, implementation of either WordPress or Drupal content management systems, social media branding (if desired), logo redesign (if desired), and training.

The power of a strong web presence for a small nonprofit cannot be understated. The website will help build legitimacy for the organization. They will see more conversions and their message will reach a higher percentage of the targeted audiences. Most importantly, though, more awareness will be brought to their cause.

We are looking for volunteers, nonprofits, and sponsors who are dedicated to helping make this a success. If you are a designer and are interested in using your talent to help the local community, apply directly from the GiveBack DC website! If you work for or are affiliated with a nonprofit that is located in Washington DC, Virginia, or Maryland; apply to have a new web presence built for your organization! Finally, if you are unable to contribute your talents to Give Back DC, there are still other ways you can help! Spread the word by downloading the media kit and becoming a Cause Promoter. Maybe you work for a company you think would be interested in sponsoring. Shoot us an email! We are also accepting individual sponsorships this year, which means that everyone is able to contribute to GiveBackDC!
