GiveBack DC, WordPress: Match Made in Heaven

A few days ago, we announced which organizations had been chosen to participate in GiveBack DC. What we haven’t talked about yet is our decision to build all three sites on WordPress. Aside from the fact that WordPress is the official sponsor of GiveBack DC, we are really happy to be able to offer this content management system to the nonprofits. Using WordPress for nonprofits is a natural choice.

WordPress is dynamic, quick, and easy to use. One of the most common concerns we have heard from the nonprofits is that they simply don’t know how to make edits to their site. More than that, they are scared to even try to add or change content because whenever they do, other elements seem to be affected.

Not only will each nonprofit receive a new web presence, but they will also be receiving WordPress training. At the end of GiveBack DC, each organization will have the tools and knowledge to be able to add photos, videos, text, and any other content they see fit. Our hope is that with this increased knowledge of how to make edits, these organizations will update their content frequently and have a more engaged audience.

Our web developers and web designers are well aware that these small, local nonprofits have different priorities than the larger clients we frequently work with. We have plans to make the design and development as user friendly as possible for both the organizations as well as the audience.

This is The Web Development Group’s first ever GiveBack DC. Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, we have volunteers coming from throughout the DC area as well as Maryland and Virginia. If you are interested in learning more about GiveBack DC, check us out online at givebackdc.com.
